Mark feels baby
Mark felt the baby move for the first time last night at 20 weeks and 2 days. His responding smile was truly that of a proud father. He was beaming. He is going to be the best dad. The baby has been very active the past few weeks especially after I eat and at night. It also seemed to like the music from the ballet and Broadway shows in NYC. Like parents, like baby!!

Appt rescheduled
Dr. Reaves' office just called and rescheduled my next visit for January 12. I find myself disappointed because I look forward to hearing the baby's heartbeat at each appointment. Thankfully, we still have the ultrasound scheduled for January 5. I asked if we would be allowed to record the sonogram. Unfortunately, my office does not permit recordings. However, I was assured we would receive several pictures!!

NYC Vacation
We just returned from vacationing in New York City. We had a fantastic time. We made our annual trip to the Gapstow Bridge in Central Park where Mark proposed almost three years ago. We fantasized about one day bringing the baby to visit "our bridge". We also made our first official baby purchase. We brought back a very soft and cuddly teddy bear from the toy store, FAO Schwartz. We are really looking forward to spending the holidays with our friends and families over the coming week. We are very anxious to see everyone!!

Yesterday a worker at Subway and today at Kohls commented on our pregnancy for the first time. You know you are showing when strangers are brave enough to congratulate you.

16 week appt
We just arrived home from our latest appointment at 16 weeks and 2 days. Everything is still looking good and the heart rate was 155 beats per minute. It was nice and loud. I have gained 1/2 pound since our last appointment bringing the total to 5 pounds (my chart shows 3.5 pounds). The doctor is very pleased. She hopes to see me gain at least 25 pounds. We scheduled our ultrasound for January 5. We are very excited to get to peak in on our little one!! We are still planning to wait until the birth to find out the sex. Our next routine appointment is scheduled for January 9. I recently began feeling the baby move. I first noticed it on November 12 at 13 weeks and 4 days. I was not sure if it was really the baby as I have nothing to compare it to. I have decided it is indeed our precious little one and it sort of feels like a muscle twitch or light fluttering. As of now, it is only occasional and mostly after I eat or in the middle of the night. I have to hold very still to feel the small movements. I cannot wait to feel movement more frequently and of course, kicks. There will be no denying whether or not it is the baby then!!

Maternity Clothes
I finally surrendered (partially) to maternity clothes. My pants are slowly but surely getting tighter and my shirts are getting shorter. Mark and I went shopping this past weekend at Old Navy. Their maternity clothes look just like normal clothes except they accommodate my growing belly. They are still a little big, but I know I will eventually grow into them. They are super comfortable. I never knew I would enjoy elastic waistbands so much! We are 14 weeks 6 days and counting!

Mom Car
Mark and I bought a new car on Tuesday. I am now driving a 2006 Lexus GS 300. Finally, I have a safe and reliable "mom car". It is silver with black leather interior. It is very pretty. I never imagined myself with such a nice car (nothing but the best for our child)! We sold my 2-door Dodge Avenger to Carmax. We are anxiously looking forward to seeing our families over the Thanksgiving holiday. You all will get to see my growing little baby belly. We are 14 weeks and 3 days along. I am regaining some of my lost energy now that we are in the second trimester. I have never felt better!

12 week appt
Our second prenatal appointment was yesterday. Wow!! We had the blessed privilege of hearing our little one's heartbeat. It was the most amazing thing I have ever heard. The doctor was able to find it immediately. The heartbeat was strong and the rate was 167 beats per minute. Mark was sitting down when the doctor picked up the heartbeat. After hearing it, he rose and stood next to me. It was very sweet. All of our labs came back great and everything looks good. I have gained 3 pounds since our first appointment, bringing total weight gain to 4.5 pounds. We are 12 weeks and 3 days as of today. I still feel great and am very thankful that morning sickness has not arrived (can you believe it?)! I am starting to show a little bit, mostly at night. After our appointment, Mark and I celebrated at one of our favorite restaurants in Denton--Hannah's. We are truly blessed and very thankful!!

1st Prenatal appt
Mark and I had our first appointment with Dr. Reaves today. Our due date has changed from May 18 to May 16, 2006. She said everything looks great and we are 8 weeks and 3 days along. I have gained 1.5 pounds since we found out we are expecting. Two months down and seven and a half to go. I am still feeling great (no real sign of morning sickness) and praying it will stay that way. We will now see our doctor every four weeks. Our next appointment is November 3. She will listen for fetal heart tones at this appointment. We are anxious to hear the sweet music of our first child's heartbeat!

We're Pregnant!!
I found out we were pregnant this morning at 9:39 a.m. Words cannot explain how happy I was. I could not believe my eyes or the double lines of the positive home pregnancy test, so I readied myself for the store. I went and bought a digital test that would display "Pregnant". While I was out, I had a florist dye a dozen carnations pink and blue. When I got home, I tested again at 11:31 a.m. The test read "Pregnant". I jumped for joy and thanked the Lord. I did not want to tell Mark at work over the phone. All day long I called and bothered him repeatedly questioning, "When are you coming home?" I am certain my voice was shaking. When he finally arrived around 2:00 p.m., I greeted him at the door. I walked into the kitchen where I had gift wrapped two baby bibs. One read "I love my Daddy" and the other read "Texas Longhorns" for his Alma matter. I stuck the positive home pregnancy tests into the floral bouquet and attached a ribbon that read "Daddy to Be" with a greeting card. I stood over the gifts and waited for his reaction. He looked outside and spoke of the lawn. All the while I was waiting for him to notice the surprise. Finally, he looked over. His expression was priceless. I waited patiently while he processed the information. I said, "We are pregnant". He hugged me tight and kissed me. I got slightly teary eyed. He told me I looked more beautiful than ever. He exclaimed, “This is cause for celebration!” I agreed!! He quickly made reservations at one of our favorite restaurants, Jaspers. We had a lovely time and are anxiously looking forward to meeting our blessed little one.
